THE FOUNDATION

Fundación Formemos was created in January 1992 with 35 young people from Caquetá. A year later, the school opened its doors and incorporated 18 more children from the rural sector. At the beginning of 1997, the formal education program began, from 1st to 9th-grade basic education with an emphasis on agricultural and industrial areas. At the end of 2004, the Ministry of Education endorsed the implementation of the levels of Preschool and Technical Media with specialization in Agriculture (grades 10 and 11). Currently, it serves 152 beneficiaries: 122 living in the homes and 30 other children in the area of ​​influence of the Foundation.

The model developed and optimized by Formemos, includes an offer of the following services in our Educational Center, located in the Municipality of Tena in Cundinamarca:

THE HOMES

The children beneficiaries of the programs, who due to the geographical location of their family or displacement situation require a place to live in order to continue their education, are housed in homes owned by Formemos.

The children's home has 100 beds distributed in bedrooms made up for beneficiaries according to their ages. The girls' homes, with capacity for 83 girls, are distributed in 12 rooms for different ages. The routines of the homes are directed by 8 counselors who develop their planning in the strengthening of values, workshops of management of free time, resolution of conflicts, leadership, guidelines of study, hygiene guidelines and team work. Households offer the possibility of improving the quality of life of children, influencing in a positive way in their individual, family and community development.

Approved by the Ministry of Education of Cundinamarca, it provides education for the levels of Preschool, Primary, Secondary, and Technical Media with Agricultural Specialty. Since 2004, the New School  Model has been implemented as a methodology for rural education, from which theoretical knowledge to agricultural practice is articulated in the farm's productive units.

Likewise, the "School and Café" program was integrated into the institutional educational project, with the support of the National Federation of Coffee Growers, in order to strengthen the generational change program of coffee farmers. At the end of 2008, the SENA - FORMEMOS curriculum integration was approved, which allows graduate students to receive not only the degree of Agricultural Technical Bachelors but also the Technicians in Agricultural and Ecological Exploitation granted by SENA.

THE FARM

THE FARM

Formemos has a farm in which the application of the theoretical learning of the students in the classroom is sought, with the practice in the field in the different productive units. This approach seeks to give the students the necessary work skills to develop their own entrepreneurship projects or to use them in the rural sector. Livestock includes poultry farming (laying hens and broilers), rabbits, porks, worm farming and livestock farming. The agricultural activity includes coffee cultivation, vegetable garden, and nursery (aromatic).

In the Department of Welfare, the work of an interdisciplinary team of the psychosocial area is integrated, who are in charge to make the diagnosis and intervention to all the students, besides to realize processes of advice and accompaniment to their families strengthening their familiar relations.
